MEXICAN REBOZO
CLOSING RITUAL
Manteada (rebozo massage), ceremonial sweat,
herbal bath and cerrada (closing of the bones)
INTENSIVE SUMMER 2023 (45 hour training)
JULY 19-23, 2023
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WASHINGTON STATE, USA
Enter the heart of the ritual, of touch, of caring and of respect for others by learning through this ancestral Mexican tradition.
This training is for anyone who wants to learn in depth all the parts of this marvellous ritual: the massage with the rebozo (manteada), the ceremonial sweat (human temazcal), the herbal bath and the closing of the bones with the rebozo (cerrada).
This ceremony is traditionally given in the postpartum period. However, it can be received throughout life to physically and symbolically honor life transitions and cycles, when going through difficult times (mourning, separation, illness, trauma, abortion, miscarriage, surgery, etc) and also to celebrate new stages of life (giving birth, adopting a child, entering adulthood, menopause, marriage, etc). The rebozo closing ritual works on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels.
Take advantage of the opportunity to learn rich yet humble techniques that will allow you to accompany and bring softness, warmth and presence to the people you love and/or the clients in your care.
-
The training takes place in several stages:
FOUNDATIONS: online theoretical training looking at the basis of Mexican traditional medicine and the history of the ritual and the rebozo.
PRACTICE: in person training to explore, learn and practice together the steps of the ceremonial treatment and apply the foundations of traditional Mexican medicine. You will have the chance to be present and assist in 2 rebozo closing rituals given by Angie and Andrea, in order to feel and live the experience from start to finish. There will be space for questions and also to hear feedback from the person receiving. Two people will be chosen at random from the workshop.
INTEGRATION: the opportunity to practice giving two treatments to people in your training group. In a safe space you will have an opportunity to practice all that you have learned. You will also have the chance to receive a closing ritual to live in flesh and bone the experience. Angie and Andréa will be available via telephone or email to answer any questions.
CLOSING CIRCLE: An online meeting as a group to answer questions, to share experiences and to celebrate the end of the training.
